This book introduces a traditional song to the next generation with beautiful illustrations and interactive moving parts. The scenes are colorful and the sliding parts are thick and sturdy. Young children will enjoy singing along and moving the spider up and down the waterspout. With each movement more images are revealed, including a smiling sun, baby birds in a nest, a little worm popping out of the soil, and a beautiful rainbow after the rain. This is one that will be read many times.

Bizzy Bear Tow Truck Driver is a fun, colorful board book with sturdy moving parts. The illustrations are reminiscent of Richard Scarry books. The book opens with Bizzy Bear answering the phone at his garage. He then sets off to help the rabbit family whose car has broken down on the side of the highway overpass. The road below can be spun to reveal a variety of vehicles being driven below. The moving parts are as thick as a board book page and young children will enjoy being able to slide Bizzy Bear on his car roller to check the engine, pulling the car up with the tow truck, and driving the bunny family home. The pictures are ones to be looked at again and again, discovering something new on every page with each reading.

This is a National Geographic board book part of a series perfect for budding naturalists. Each two-page spread features a full color photograph of one bird species. There is one sentence in large text perfect for reading aloud to babies, but there is also an additional piece of information about the bird in smaller text. Read some of the words, read all of the words, or simply let baby marvel at the brightly colored birds. The ratio of text to picture is perfect for board book readers. Recommended for babies up through new readers.

Toddlers will love the fun flaps that open on each page. Typical bright, colorful Lucy Cousins illustrations of sea creatures. Rhyming text is bouncy and fun to read, but I’m uncertain whether the vocabulary will appeal to this age group, for example, kelp beds, anglerfish. Many more animals are pictured but not mentioned in the text. If I had to choose between this book and “hooray for Fish” by the same author, I would choose the latter. However, toddlers will love to turn the flaps!

Wordless picture book that depicts the folks in Bustletown inside a house, a farm, a railway station, a community center, a marketplace, a department store, and a park with a lake. I felt the illustrations were too busy for this age group. Similar to Richard Scarry’ Busytown but not as much white space. The amusing illustrations will appeal more to older children and adults, but I doubt they would pick up a board book.

This is a re-release of a board book published in 2004 which still provides lessons on kindness, sharing, and compassion. Murphy’s animals are simplistic yet very recognizable for the toddlers who are sure to enjoy looking at the pictures. The message will be appreciated by parents and caregivers who want to reinforce kindness behavior in the home and day care center. Like other reviewers I question why a soon to be mother hen would give her egg away but all ends well for the chick. Illustrations are cute on the two-page spreads and the colors are appealing. Public libraries who collect board books will want this title as the original copy was sure to have been discarded for bite marks and sticky spots. This is a good for collections with toddlers.

This adorable board book is obviously intended for the new baby and its toddler siblings. The illustrations are created in black and white so that young eyes can focus on the pages. A simple storyline takes youngsters through a variety of animals who have already met the baby but it is the last few two-page spreads that light up the book. Readers are offered the opportunity to meet and perhaps kiss the baby bird. Although this is a reissue in board book format it is recommended for public libraries that do not have the title in their collection. I Kissed the Baby! Is an ideal baby shower gift.

Say hello to all your favorite jungle animals in this bright and friendly nonfiction novelty title.

Authentically illustrated animals and caricatures of diverse children interact on the pages of this creative nonfiction board book.  Ten jungle animals are introduced to young toddlers in a colorful and playful way.  Older toddlers and preschool children will enjoy the information provided both under the flaps and within the content of the text.  Simple scientific facts related to eating habits and animal behaviors are covered and explained for the more questioning child.

Illustrations are colorful and the animal expressions are delightful.  The font appears to be the work of a child making the book all the more delightful

As the most recent title of the Lift the Flap series this title will be enjoyed for years.   The series would be well accepted in a public library and equally appreciated in a nursery school.
